Hi, I'm Mike.

I've spent the better part of three decades doing one thing, in a lot of different forms: taking an idea and making it real. That's the part of this work I've never gotten tired of.

A lot of how I think about building things that last was shaped early on, at Motorola and later Cambium Networks — real hardware, real networks, real consequences when something didn't scale or didn't ship. It's stuck with me ever since. I've always been hands-on, and I still am. I'm not the architect who draws a diagram and hands it off — I want to be in the code, in the infrastructure, in the details that actually make something work.

For over 20 years I've worked as a chief architect, and today I'm fractional CTO for two companies. I'm especially drawn to working with founders who have an idea — or even a working prototype they've built themselves — and need someone who's done this before to help take it the rest of the way, into something real users can actually depend on.

The other constant is that I'm a lifelong learner. Right now that means going deep on AI — not the hype, but the practical work of integrating it into real systems and building agent-driven workflows that actually hold up. I'd rather be genuinely good at something than talk like I already am.

And I like teaching. If I can help someone understand why something works the way it does, instead of just handing them a fix, that's a good day for me. That's a lot of what you'll find in the writing on this site — real problems, what I actually did, and why.
